HR 2956: Legislation to Reduce US Troops in Iraq by Spring 2008

"No one man can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices." - Edward R Murrow

For the third time in fewer than 6 months the United States House of Representatives has spurned President George W. Bush's bungled management and faulty leadership of the war in Iraq.

On Thursday, July 12, 2007, a coalition composed of Democrats and some Republicans , manged to pass a bill. This group of politicians created yet another piece of legislation for regarding our troops in Iraq. By a vote of 223-201, a handful of Republicans and most Democrats moved to support the bill.
HR 2956, would require U.S. forces in Iraq to be reduced to a "limited presence" by April 1, 2008. The bill was conceived and sponsored by Armed Services Chairman
Ike Skelton, a Democrat from Missouri; this law would require the military drawdown to begin in 4 months or 120 days.
