Film Life's 2006 Black Movie Awards: The STARS



It was a night of stars in Los Angeles, California when Film Life's 2006 Black Movie Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary with a bevy of America's best known black filmmakers. Film Life's 2006 Black Movie Awards

"Quality films are universal; great stories and performances break through cultural barriers to entertain, challenge and inspire all audiences, regardless of race, religion or gender. The BMAs mission is to highlight the irrefutable global appeal of Black cinema and the people who personify it." from the BMA History.

On Sunday, October 15, 2006 Film Life's 2006 Black Movie Awards gala and show was held in Los Angeles, California. The program is scheduled to air on the TNT cable network Wednesday evening October 18, 2006.(check your local listings for time.)This special program, produced by CEO of Film Life, Inc. (Creator/Executive Producer, BMAs), Jeff Friday and Suzanne de Passe, of de Passe Entertainment (Executive Producer/Head Writer, BMAs), features the multi-talented writer, producer, director, actor Tyler Perry as host. Perry is known for the films "Madea’s Family Reunion", and "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" as well as theatrical stage productions of his plays in the Madea series.

The Black Movie Awards was founded in 1997 by Jeff Friday to increase the public's awareness of black film and to encourage diversity in Hollywood. The annual ceremony is an unprecedented celebration of the achievements in Black cinema past, present and the hope for the future.
