Chicago's the Oscar-award winning actress Jennifer Hudson,
wrote in her MySpace blog a note of thanks to her fans and friends.

"I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My sister and I take great comfort and strength from your love and concern. jhud"

Though Hudson still mourns the devastating tragedy which occurred in late October when her mother, Darnell, and brother, Jason, were found shot to death in their Chicago home followed three days later by the discovery of the body of Julian, her 7 year-old nephew; she has agreed to continue with the Gap Stores' holiday campaignusing her smiling countenace in its ads. Hudson, pictured in the ad in a bright red sweater, was photographed in NYC last July, is one of several celebrities featured in the ad to be seen in magazines, newspapers and on billboards in New York and Los Angeles with the tag line "Shine Your Own Star".

Samuel L. Jackson, one of the surviving actors featured in the recently released film "Soul Men" says as he goes around the tee vee circuit promoting the film he doesn't feel normal promoting his latest film "Soul Men" without costar Bernie Mac.

In the movie, Jackson and Mac play former bandmates who embark on a zany cross-country road trip to perform at the memorial concert for their deceased lead singer played by John Legend. Mac died of complications from pneumonia in August after production on the film ended. "It's even weirder that he never saw the movie," Jackson said. He describes a twenty year relationship with Mac. It was a friendship wherein they shared their dreams of making it big in the entertainment world.

Renowned film maker Spike Lee tells readers in New York Magazine's 40th Anniversary issue he's glad Obama won the presidency. "...I think he’s a visionary. Actually, Barack told me the first date he took Michelle to was Do the Right Thing. I said, thank God I made it. Otherwise you would have taken her to Soul Man." The highly acclaimed and controversial director speculates Michelle would have been like, "What’s wrong with this brother?” The 1986 film "Soul MAN", not to be confused with the new Sam Jackson, Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes film "Soul MEn", was directed by Steve Miner. It is a race comedy featuring actor C. Thomas Howell. The story about a white man who disguises himself as a black man in order to be accepted as a student at Harvard Law School. Some people (??) think the film directed by Steve Miner helped pave the way for cultural acceptance of Barack Obama. More about this speculation in another post.

As the oceanliner the Queen Elizabeth II enters into the world of retired cruise ships to become a floating hotel in Dubai , the person, Her Royal Majesty or HRM QE2 wonders why no one spotted the credit crunch that has affected the entire world.

During a recent visit to the pretigious London School of Economics, (Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones went to LSE ), the Queen was briefed on the origins and effects of the credit crunch by economics professor Luis Garicano.

"Why did nobody notice it?" asked the 82-year-old monarch, adding that the turmoil was "awful".

Professor Garicano explained the economic mess this way, "At every stage, someone was relying on somebody else and everyone thought they were doing the right thing."

The questions from the Queen provides proof she's just like us. Just like us she wants to know why the experts did not warn of the collapse, and why no one did anything to try to stop it.

The explanation provided is also proof that just because you are royalty does not mean you will receive an adequate answer to your quiry.

God save the Queen, it looks like she really is a human being.

Miriam Makeba An International Singing Star And Activist

Miriam Makeba, the South African singer, who helped to bring the plight of dark-skinned Afrikans living under the apartheid system to the attention of the world, died earlier this week.

Makeba was a music sensation in the United States and other countries of the world. Unfortunately, at the time the government of South Africa did not value her gift as the treasure the rest of the world appreciated. The Pretoria government banned her music and she was exiled from her native land.

In 1960 the South African government refused to allow Makeba to come home. For 31 years she lived away from Johannesburg where she will be laid to rest. It was in 1990following Nelson Madela's release from life imprisonment when he asked Miriam Makeba to come home. She did saying, "I never understood why I couldn't come home. I never committed any crime."

Here she sings a duet with Paul Simon, his composition from the Graceland album. "Under African Skies".

Miriam Makeba, the first lady of African song for the last fifty years has died.The 76 year-old performer whose career spanned continents, collapsed on stage during a concert in Castel Volturno, a small city in Italy. She was paying homage to six Africans killed by the Camorra mafia two months ago and to the Italian journalist Roberto Saviano who exposed the murders and was himself threatened with death.

Nelson Mandela, who is 91, is among a host of dignitaries expressing condolences and celebrating the life of the woman with a voice like a nightingale said, "She was South Africa's first lady of song and so richly deserved the title of Mama Afrika.
It was fitting that her last moments were spent on a stage, enriching the hearts and lives of others - and again in support of a good cause."

Indeed it is reported the last song she performed before her onstage collapse was the 1967 hit "Pata Pata" an up beat South African party song.

Jessica Simpson: Seems the actress turned Country Western singer is having a string of misfortune. Her latest film, "Major Movie Star" a hit in Russia, has been named a flop by the critics in the U.S. It's going straight to DVD without a theatrical release. And if that weren't bad enough her hairdresser was injured last night when overzealous paparazzi mobbed Simpson's entourage. Simpson along with Ken Paves, tress dresser to the stars, and others were exiting Madeo, a trendy Los Angeles restaurant. An eye witness says one photographer banged into Paves' face as he and another man were trying to protect Simpson from the onslaught. Simpson accompanied her Coiffeur-In-Chief who was rushed to Cedar-Sinai hospital in West Hollywood for emergency treatment from the restaurant.

Observers are talking about former North Carolinla Senator John Edwards'wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth was seen recently at a Washington, D.C. forum without her wedding ring. Some are speculating the couple has called it quits. The New York Post reports that sources say John Edwards "is no longer living with Elizabeth and that the couple have separated." The former senator admitted having an affair with Rielle Hunter during his priimary race campaign earlier this year for president. He denies being the father of her baby daughter. Perhaps Elizabeth's fingers are swollen from the cancer medication she is taking. Stay tuned....

The executive vice president of Def Jam Records Shakir Stewart is dead. The company founded in the mid-1980s by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin made the announcement stating only that the executive had died on Saturdya. No cause of death has been confirmed for the man who succeeded Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, in June of this year the role of head of the company. A Cobb County police spokesman does however report Stewart died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. He was found dead in his home in an Atlanta suburb. Our sincere and deepest condolences to his family, friends and business associates.

Finally. Paris Hilton admits her ditzy image is just an act.

Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims-Public And Private Memorial Services Set

Actress/singer Jennifer Hudson along with her surviving family members have established a foundation in memoriam to her mother, brother and nephew.

Hudson's family members, mother Darnell Donerson and brother Jason Hudson, were found shot to death in the family's Chicago home; three days late the body of seven year-old Julian King, Hudson's nephew, the son of Hudson's sister Julia and Greg King, was found in the family's stolen SUV also dead of fatal gunshot wounds.
According to a statement from the Hudson family the "specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime. This encompasses their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as well as grief counseling."

A public memorial service has been set for Sunday afternoon for members and fans to honor the memory of the Oscar winning performer's family.

A private family service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008.

As Chicago Police continue to examine evidence and investigate the murders of three of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson's family, the surviving family members announce a private ceremony. Last week Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson were found dead from gunshot at the family home. On Monday the body Julian King, Hudson's seven year-old nephew was found.

The only person announced by police to be of interest in the case is William Balfour the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, sister of the popular actress, and step-father to the mrudered boy.

The private service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 in Chicago at the Apostolic Church Of God. The Oscar winning performer and her family is expected to announce the date and time of a public service later today.

Jennifer Hudson Family Triple Murder Investigation Continues in Chicago

Chicago police investigation of the murder of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew continues.Yesterday the body of Hudson's seven year-old nephew was found along with the vehicle described in the Amber Alert issued last Friday. The child had been shot to death.

William Balfour, estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia remains in custody for parole violations and as yet has not been charged in connection with the crimes.

Police investigators have not discovered a motive for the crimes although it has been reported a domestic dispute between Balfour, and the Hudson family was ongoing.

There are now two crime scenes in the Englewood section of the city. One is the location where the Hudson matriarch and her son, Darnell Donerson and her son Jason Hudson, were found mortally wounded last Friday at the family's Chicago South Side home. The other crime scene being investigated is the location not far from the family home where the white Chevy SUV and the young boy's body were found. It is also the area where police apprehended Balfour to bring him in for questioning.

On Monday, Jennifer Hudson accompanied by family members, traveled to the Medical Examiner's Office to identify the child's body as that of Julian King age seven years old. An autopsy is expected to be performed today on the youngest of those slain.

Cheryl Burke Fat? No Just Strong And Healthy

Cheryl Burke, the beautiful professional dancer

partnered with Olympian Maurice Green on the current Dancing With The Stars season seven, has been advised by one male dancer who was on the program but had to leave because his partner was injured,to drop the five pounds she gained over the summer.

Sounds like sour grapes us. Let us tell you why we think these guys are just expressing their inner green meany-monster.

Cheryl Burke has won the competition twice. Once when paired with Drew Lachey,and a second time when she was partnered with retired professional NFL star and SuperBowl champion Emmit Smith.

Maksim Chmerkovsky, a professional dancer who we admire, says he reminded reminded both Burke and "DWTS" newcomer Lacy Schwimmer of the fact "the camera adds 10 pounds".

Also speaking in the role of self appointed weight monitor, professional dancer Louis Van Amstel, who in "DWTS" season 6 was paired with Priscilla Presley. Van Amstel said Burke's weight gain might "discourage" some in the viewing audience, "...if they watch someone who’s dancing her butt off and she’s still heavy." You may recall team Presley-Van Amstel was voted out of the competition early by viewers.

This season's team Misty May-Treanor, of beach volleyball olympics fame, and Maksim Chmerkovsky, is on the sidelines because Treanor tore her Achilles tendon during a rehearsal two weeks ago on the day the show was to be recorded.

We think Green and Burke are in position to win this competition, with Cheryl Burke capturing the title and the coveted glitter ball trophy for a third time.

To us Cheryl Burke looks fabulous. She does not look weak, like a certain celebrity who was bluntly told, on the air during the first week of the season seven competition, to gain a few pounds because she looks so frail and fragile. The certain celebrity was further advised to gain some weight because the exercise from dancing will cause her to lose weight. There are a few male and female dancers who appear to us to be under weight. Perhaps they should take a page from Burke's book. She admits she's come to realize and accept being comfortable with herself.

We agree with Cheryl when she said in an interview with People mag:

"People will always have an opinion about you, whether it's good or bad.But most important is to have a secure feeling about yourself and know that you're beautiful regardless of what people think of you.

I want kids or women out there to realize you don't have to be anorexic to be beautiful."

Cheryl Burke is looking strong, healthy and simply gorgeous. Her choreographic skills are outstanding. She looks incredible in her costumes. Watch her with her celebrity partner Maurice Green tonight as they execute with verve.

It has also been reported a child'sbody has been found inside the vehicle. No information as to the identity of the body in the vehicle.

Jennifer Hudson And Family Offer Reward For Abducted Julian King's Return

Jennifer Hudson and her family are offering a $100,000 reward for the safe return of her missing 7-year-old nephew Julian King, whose whereabouts have been unknown since Friday. Through her publicist Lisa Kasteler, Jennifer Hudson issued a statement in which an appeal to the public for its assistance was made, offering the reward and asking citizens to give any information to Chicago police.

"Jennifer and her family appreciate the enormous amount of love, support and prayers they have received while she and her family try to cope with this tragedy and continue the search for Julian. We ask that all inquiries be directed to the Chicago Police Department, Area 1 Detective Division at 312/747-8380."

Chicago Police And FBI Search For Jennifer Hudson's 7 Year-old Nephew Julian King

Chicago police have issued an Amber Alert for Julian King the young nephew of popular singer-actress Jennifer Hudson. King is the seven year-old son of Hudson's sister Julia; he is believed to have been in the home of his grandmother Darnell Donerson, Hudson's mother, when Donerson and her son, Jason Hudson, brother of the singer, were murdered in a double homicide.

Chicago police authorities said in the Amber Alert Julian King, an African-American male, is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a striped brown polo shirt and khaki pants.

South Side as well as all Chicago area residents have been asked to look out for a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859.

Police on Friday had detained for questioning and later arrested William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia and step-father to the seven year-old Julian. A police spokesman said Balfour, who had been in police custody since Friday, was transferred today to the Illinois Department of Corrections "based on his active parole violation unrelated to this investigation."

What is known of William Balfour, from the records of the Illinois Department of Corrections, is he is 27 years-old; he served seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle. State records also indicate he was released in May 2006 from Illinois River Correctional Center in Downstate Canton and he is still on parole.

Though Chicago Police Superintendent Jodie Weis says the information they currently have points to domestic drama,no charges have been filed against Balfour in connection with the murders and abduction at this time. The child was not with him when apprehended by police. Weis promises to continue to work with the family or anyone who can provide help in solving the crimes.

Michele Balfour, mother of William Balfour, expressed her condolences to the Hudson family while adamantly stating her son is not responsible for the crimes against the family. Balfour says she and others spoke to William Balfour on Friday and early Saturday morning even saying he returned calls.

A plea for the child's return was delivered last night, Saturday, October 25, 2008, by Julia Hudson Balfour the mother of the missing boy. She stated: "All I ask, I don't care who you are, just let my baby go, please. I just want my son." Chicago police have requested assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the child may have been taken across state lines into Indiana.

Earlier today, Sunday, October 26, 2008 the singer Jennifer Hudson made an appeal for the public's help in the safe return of her young nephew Julian King. In a MySpace blog entry Hudson said she is grateful for community support and posted a picture of her sister's son.

"Thank you all for your prayers and your calls. Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely. If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately ... Once again thank you all for being there for us through this tough time." Jennifer Hudson

On Saturday Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the deaths as homicides. Donerson and Hudson were found dead on Friday in the home of Jennifer Hudson's mother having suffered fatal gun shot wounds.

This unfortunate tragedy comes at a time when Jennifer Hudson is enjoying great success in her professional and personal life. After being rejected in the American Idol competition Hudson was catapulted to fame and stardom when she received an Oscar for best supporting actress for her performance in the movie musical Dream Girls. She was also a featured player in the summer hit chic-flic Sex In The City. She currently has a number one hit single from her recently released debut album; Hudson became a part of indelible history when she sang the National Anthem at the Democratic National Convention on the night of Illinois Senator Barack Obama's acceptance speech as the party's candidate for POTUS. Last month her representative confirmed Hudson became engaged to be married on her birthday to David "Punk" Otunga who also hails from Chicago and is known to viewers of the reality show "I Love New York 2".

On Friday afternoon, October 24, 2008 Darnell Donerson, age 57, (pictured at right with Hudson) mother of Jennifer Hudson, was found shot to death in her Chicago home. Jennifer's brother, Jason Hudson, 29, was also found in the home fatally wounded. The deceased relatives of the former American Idol contestant were discovered by a cousin who lives nearby. There are reports that seven year-old Julian King, Donerson's grandson may also have been abducted by the perpetrator of this terrible crime. Hudson, an Academy Award winner for her best supporting actress role in the blockbuster musical film "Dream Girl", has recently released her debut album and is one of the featured stars in the new film "The Secret Life of Bees" On behalf of all of us at YouThinkWhat, we extend our sincere and deepest sympathy to Jennifer Hudson and her family.

Four Tops Levi Stubbs, Mr. Blackwell, Rudy Ray Moore, Dee Dee Warwick Clark Dark's Celebrity Round-Up

Clark Dark hear wearing mourning clothes again as I sadly report the passing of three very well known celebrities.

The rich, raw baritone voice of the front man, lead singer for the R&B group The Four Tops has been silenced by death. Levi Stubbs, age 72, died on Friday, October 17, 2008. The reported cause of his death is complications from cancer he'd been fighting since 1995 and a stroke he suffered in 2000. Stubbs is remembered by the surviving members of the group as a humble man. Unlike other lead singers at the Motown recording company Stubbs never wished to distinguish himself from his high school friends. They'd been singing together since 1954. Renaldo "Obie" Benson, Lawrence Payton, Abdul "Duke" Fakir and Levi Stubbs were The Four Tops. The group disbanded upon the death of Payton in 1997. Benson also predeceased Stubbs in 2005.
When Levi Stubbs sang "Still Water" with the lyric "my love for you how it runs so deep and true" you can hear the sincerity and believe he means every word of it. Another great artisit will be sadly missed.

Dee Dee Warwick, age 63, the sister of Dionne Warwick, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in a New Jersey nursing home. It is reported her sister was at her side when she died.
Dee Dee Warwick followed her sister's lead in choosing a musical career. During the 1960s she had mild success with the Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff tune "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" which was later covered by several groups including Diana Ross and The Supremes along with The Temptations. She most recently sang on the music track of the Tyler Perry film "Daddy's Little Girls". Warwick can be heard as the featured voice on the title cut from her sister Dionne's gospel album recorded earlier this year. The album is "Why We Sing" is available as well as recordings of her music from her years with Mercury and the ATCO labels. Her vocal talent will remain with us always.

Another comic entertainer passed away. This time it's news of the death of Rudy Ray Moore. He was age 81 when he died of complications from diabetes on Sunday October 19, 2008. Moore was a stand-up comedian who was known for an explicit comic style similar to the late Redd Foxx and the late Richard Pryor. He was last seen in the film role of character Dolomite in a the John Cafiero directed "Big Money Hustlas". Moore was previously featured on Big Daddy Kane's1990 release "A Taste of Chocolate";later in 1994 he was heard on 2LiveCrew's "Back At Your Ass For the Nine-4" As recently as 2008 Moore recorded the song "I Live For The Funk" in collaboration with his associate BlowFly who was there when Moore developed the character Petey Wheatstraw more than 30 years ago. Wheatstraw is a character who is offered the opportunity by the devil to return to earth after his death if he will marry the ugliest woman n earth, the devil's daughter. The Rudy Ray Moore comic stylings have been captured on video and audio to bring more laughs to another generation.

Last in this report but not least is Richard Blackwell who succumbed to death at age 86. This is a guy I find fascinating because he made a name for himself and a living by reviewing and critiquing--some say with unnecessary harshness, the fashion sense and appearance of myriad celebrities for more than forty years.He enjoyed modest success as a designer during the 1960s and into the early 1980s when the trend toward more casual dress saw a decline in the demand for designs from The House Of Blackwell. Blackwell had the distinction of having designed gowns for such popular actresses of the era as Yvonne DeCarlo,( of the tee vee show The Munsters), Jayne Mansfield, (late mother of CSI actress Maritska Hargitay), Dorothy Lamour, the female in the Bob Hope Bing Crosby road pictures), Jane Russell (it's rumored millionaire Howard Hughes designed lingerie for her), and fashion icon California first lady and former actress Nancy Reagan. Early in his career Blackwell wrote an article titled "10 Best and Worst Dressed" people for a magazine, and the rest is history. He developed the franchise from it. He's best remembered for his "Worst Dressed" list; he managed to sustain a successful career as a fashion journalist. He was syndicated in tabloid publications. His original articles were featured in newspapers and lifestyle magazines. Even his "Fabulous Fashion Independents" highlighted celebrities who in previous years were on his "Ten Worst Dressed" list. This conveys the idea Mr. Blackwell may have been more fair in his critiques than the media would have us believe. This aspect of Blackwell was not equally publicized.
Many celebrities who made the last of worst dressed were initially angered but then they realized the public relations value of being on the famous list. Several wrote letters of thanks to Mr. Blackwell. Paul Newman Handsome Hollywood Hunk, Dead at 83

The 83-year-old screen legend with the piercing blue eyes, Paul Newman, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at his farmhouse near Westport, Connecticut. This sad announcement came from his publicist Jeff Sanderson. Newman was surrounded by his family and close friends.
Paul Newman,the ten-time Oscar nominee, creator of iconic movie anti-heroes in "The Hustler," "Cool Hand Luke" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," died after a battle with cancer.

Newman won three Oscars - two honorary, and one for the Martin Scorsese film "The Color of Money." In this film he reprised his role as pool shark "Fast Eddie" Felson from "The Hustler" to win the 1986 award.

Newman is always high in the rankings for any list of screen legends, box office stars or sex symbols.

Paul Newman is survived by his wife of fifty years, actress Joanne Woodward, and their three daughters, Elinor, Melissa and Claire.

Olympians John Carlos and Tommie Smith Forty Years Later

Former San Jose State track and field athletes John Carlos and Tommie Smith were honored last month with the Arthur Ashe Award at the 2008 ESPY Awards.

After capturing gold and bronze, respectively, in the 200 meters at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games the athletes were stripped of their medals and sent home immediately for "militant" behavior according to the International Olympic Committee in 1968.

Stand-Up Comedian/Actor Bernie Mac, 50 Died

Chicago mourns the death of Bernie Mac comedian and actor. According to Mac's publicist the television star died of complications of pneumonia in a Chicago hospital today. He was 50 years old. Here's our tribute to a man who encouraged an end to violence and participation in the politicla process by exercising our voting rights.

Bernard McCauley will be missed by many.

Many people, no doubt, will remember the alleged controversy surrounding Bernie Mac's appearance at a fundraiser in Chicago for Barack Obama. We present the opinion of one man, comedian Asa Thibodaux.

Morgan Freeman, one of the most enduring film actors of this generation was injured in an auto crash. He was driving the car belonging to Demaris Meyer, a friend of his wife's Myrna Colley-Lee. The crash occurred near Freeman's Mississippi Delta home. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery for the injuries he sustained in the accident. Freeman was released from a Tennessee hospital on Thursday. Could the passsenger in the car and owner of the same be his new paramour? I ask because...
a day or two following the accident Freeman's lawyer announced Morgan and the Mrs. are getting D-I-V-O-R-C-E-D.

The official word from the L'Oreal company is that they did not re-touch pictures of Jay-Z's wife for their magazine ads. There are two important facts in the previous sentence. The first is L'Oreal denies re-touching the pictures, even though Bey is lookin' very white in the pics. The second fact in that sentence is Jigga and Bey are married. New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg made refence to seeing Jay-Z "and his wife" at basketball games. So there you have it one of the mysteries of 2008 solved by a politician. The other remains a mysterious mystery.

Speaking of political types, mystery and suspense...what a firestorm there is surrounding former North Skack-lacky senator John Edwards,his mistress and their love child. Edwards admits to having the illicit affair with the woman, described as a novice filmmaker who filmed him in documentary style during 2006 as he criss-crossed the country for further name recognition in preparation for a run for the job title POTUS. (I wonder if the outtakes are available for assembly as a sex tape?) But in a "I-Shot-The-Sheriff-But-I-Did-Not-Shoot-The-Deputy" type moment Edwards denies he's the father of the child. Another way to describe the admission is with a twist of Bill Clinton, "I had sex with that woman, but I did Not father her child!" Edwards says he has not taken a test to determine the paternity of the child. Andrew Young, 41, married with young children, a former campaign aid to Edwards, NOT the former civil rights activist, former mayor of Atlanta and former United Nations ambassador, says a la MJ-Billy-Jean style,"The kid is mine". This looks like a job for Maury Povich!

Happy Father's Day 2008:The Centennial Celebration

In the United States our modern day celebration of Fathers, the other half of responsible parenting, has it origins in the minds of two ladies who are said to be largely responsible for the commemoration. Both Grace Golden Clayton and Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea to honor fathers.

Ms Clayton's innovation came as a suggestion to the pastor of a church in West Viginia following a mine disaster, a major explosion in December 1907, in which more than three hundred men perished. Many of those who died were fathers and immigrants.

It is said that Mrs. Dodd was inspired to organize a holiday to honor fathers by the devotion displayed by her father, William Jackson Smart, a veteran of the War Between the States, who as a single parent raised six children in Spokane, Washington.

Both women were encouraged in their efforts to celebrate fathers by Anna Jarvis's work to establish Mother's Day, a project Jarvis' mother, Ann,had worked on before her death in 1905.

And so the first modern Father's Day celebration was held on July 5, 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia. The first June Fathers' Day was held in June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington at a Young Mens' Christian Association, YMCA.

In the United States our presidents immedately promoted the holiday with unofficial support. President Coolidge in 1924 suggested it be a national holiday. By the latter part of the twentieth century President Lyndon Baines Johnson proclaimed Father's Day a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. In 1972 President Richard Nixon gave the holiday its official desination.

After 00 years of families giving Dad his due, retailers can expect to cash in on nearly 11 billion dollars in retail sales of gifts for fathers.

R. Kelly Found Not Guilty In Child Porn Trial

After six gruelling years of public speculation with prosecutors relentlessly trying to win their case against him, R&B star R. Kelly has been found not guilty of all charges of having had sex with an underage female.

The jury in the sensational child pornography trial began deliberation on Thursday and on Friday, June 13, 2008 delivered its verdict.

It seems the testimony given by the alleged female child, who is now a twenty-three year-old adult, was truthful. She was not the female in the video. Just as Ar-rah was not the man seen in the thirty minute video. Kelly has a mole on his back. The man in the raunchy sex video does not.

Additionally Judge Vincent Gaughan did not allow mention of the past four known settlements Kelly has paid to underage girls who've accused him of inappropriate sexual conduct. Without this information there is little room for doubt of Kelly's innocense. Like WMDs you can not find what is not there.

Some who were eyewitness to the court proceedings say, "The only chance the prosecution had was that Kelly would slip up and re-enact the crime within viewing distance of the jury box." Basically an open and shut case.

We suggest Kelly's next musical release be titled, "Trapped... in The Legal System".
